A guest at Trial & Error: The evening is dedicatet to the trancontinental journey of garments, taking us to Asia and Africa. The clothing tells about the people who made them and the people that wore them. They also remind us of the dark side of the fashion industry: Low wages, poor working conditions - the environmental impact of unsustainable raw material extraction and toxic dyes.
Kisitu Aloysius Musanyusa, Social Entrepreneur from Mpigi/Uganda and founder of 'Repupose Africa limted' and a representative of the association Inkota e.V.* balance their perspectives and shed light on the dilemma of the fashion industry.
*“We want to defeat hunger, combat poverty and make globalization work for everyone! With targeted campaigns, INKOTA aims to invigorate the political landscape in Germany and to raise public awareness for the darker sides of globalization and the importance of human rights." (Self-promotion Inkota website)

The participation of STREETWARE saved item at the themed evening is part of 'The Congress on the Clothes Dump' which describes a series of events between September and November 2021 dedicated to an inclusive and participatory philosophizing about the meaning of clothes, their production, distribution and consumption. Invited guests and random attendees dig into textonic layers, search for solutions, question the ethics of the second skin. Clothing protects and adorns. It represents basic aesthetic and existential needs, but its mode of production destroys the environment on a large scale and endangers the physical and psychological well-being of the people who cope with the manufacturing processes in socially intolerable conditions. How could sustainable production and economy look like - this is what we want to explore with people from the global - as well as Berlin - North and South in a multi-perspective way.
