*Mit Panoramablick. Die Berge, die uns umgeben, bieten keinen idyllischen Blick über Gipfel und Fluren – die vertraute Umgebung wird überformt von neuen Landschaften – ein Paar Turnschuhe hängen am Baum, ein T-Shirt über der Straßenlaterne, eine gepunktete Bluse liegt ermattet im Rinnstein. Matratzen überwölben Treppenabsätze und Hauseingänge. Der Wühltisch hat sich abgeschafft. Wo das Eis schmilzt, ließen 391.752 Tonnen Altkleider 2020 die Gipfel wachsen.

On the central roundabout of Berlin’s Ernst-Reuter-Platz, a glass building resides over the surrounding traffic: of the BHROX bauhaus reuse, ein neues, öffentliches Zentrum und Stadtlabor für transdisziplinäre Bildung, Forschung und Beteiligung. Der Raum zwischen Innen und Außen des Galerierundlaufes der Bauhausbox – die Ritze – ist gestopft:  55 Kubikmeter Textilien drängen sich zu aufgeworfenen Schichten. Tektonik des Überflusses.

Performance artists explore the premise, they crawl over piles of fabrics, searching for identity:
throw on a dress, slip it off again. A sweater begins to lose its own individual significance. Who has lost themselves when – and where?
On the quest for new attributes, performers strip the ‘made in’ labels of their original significance: Travel announcements turn

Will those discarded clothes become a metaphor for our society? A society, that sets off to shed its skin, that searches for new economic and value systems? In times of pandemic, we’re all faced with our vulnerabilities. All of us have been robbed of what we once took for granted.

The mine of clothes never sleeps. For 24 hours, textile miners dig for fabrics. Shed garments, slip others on again. Ritual and Repetition. Layer by layer.
Exhausted, they fall asleep. One of them is sitting in the dim light of the sewing machine, carefully stitching up disparities.

The 24-hours performance will be streamed on the youtube channel by zukunftsgeräusche  from 11 AM to 11 AM.
The installation is viewable around the clock from February 15 to March 1.
